Kids are Weird

This is the Spankys new favorite pastime. It's called "Let's See How Much Crap We Can Stack in the Window Sill".

I'm sure the neighbors love it that they stand on the train table and peep into their house all day.

Our Own SXSW

The Spanky Bottom Boys got together last weekend for a little SXSW jam session. They aren't signed yet, so please let me know if you want in on this rare talent.

Here is the backstage warm-up. (Evan is checking on his net worth first.)

Carter is the front man...

Davis is the cool cat on the bass...

Evan plays a mean steel guitar...

"You guys have been great tonight...see ya next year!"

Even rock stars like a good bed time story with Daddy.

Cousins

My brother's kids came into town last weekend. The boys just love playing with them.Kyleigh is a great leader of this crew :) She set up "lunch" for all of the little kids!

I think Caleb was just happy to play with the power tools!

We all went to Rudy's afterward. Of course my brother's kids eat like champs and I have to pack a lunch of hotdogs, corn and mostly graham crackers for mine. No way are they going to touch a bean or potato salad or delicious bbq beef. Some day these kids are going to be begging me to take them to Rudy's (I hope!).

Did you hear dat?

It has been so long since we have had a good thunder storm here that every time it rumbled this evening Carter said, "Did you hear dat?...It's a volcano!".

I assured him that rain was coming all day, and nothing happened. Finally, I let them put their boots on anyway to play outside. I was going to at least wet down the deck for them to splash in when we heard some sirens. I think they were for a tornado watch, but they sure weren't loud enough to be super effective. Anyway, we all went inside, and I looked out the front windows to see this:

Iit kind of does look more like a volcano than a thunderstorm :)

The rains finally did come but it was too late to play outside...hopefully we will get another chance. Thankfully, we didn't get the near tennis ball size hail that some of Austin got!! Here are some pix from keyetv.com:

Tub Time

We figured the days of bathing all three boys together are numbered. (Especially considering they like to lay down and "swim" now). So, we decided to take some pix.

Here are a few that I found particularly amusing.

And I wonder why Kyle is always soaked after he bathes them...

This is Carter's interpretation of the Thinking Man...or is it a body builder pose?
Either way he is going to have to work on his tan.

Bad Habits

So, I have constant inner turmoil with the pacis. The Spankys are highly addicted. On one hand, these kids sleep like champs both at night and nap time...I really don't want to do ANYTHING to mess that up.

On the other hand, they bite through them like every other day. I spend a small fortune replacing them. Not to mention the fact that they are 2 1/2 years old now!

So, I ran out to Target the other evening because we were in desperate need of reinforcements...they were out (guess we aren't the only ones still on the smack). Well, HEB carries them too, so I went there next. But, they only had the pink ones, not our usual blue!

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and I bought all of the pink ones they had.

I was a little nervous handing them over to The Spankys the next day at nap time...you can never tell what they are going to pitch a fit about. Turns out they thought they were extra cool.

I didn't have the heart to tell them they looked like sissy boys. Big, 2 1/2 year old sissy boys with pink pacis. :)

They were so proud though that they kindly posed for this blackmail picture.

Evan is so sweet...he doesn't bite through his (at least not as often)!

Carter's Cars

This little dude LOVES cars. He has not put the matchbox cars down since he got them for Valentine's Day. They're first thing he looks for when he wakes up.

It is really neat to see the boys develop their own interests. Davis and Evan couldn't care less about the cars I got them. So, Carter has adopted their's too.

Everywhere we drive Carter points out the cars he sees.
"It's Gigi's Car"
"It's Daddy's new car"
"It's Mommy's new car" (even though mine isn't new)
"It's a BIG truck"
"It's a race car"
"It's a motorcycle"...
and on. and on. and on for the entire ride.

Kyle let him sit in his new car this weekend, and you should have seen the look on Carter's face. He was just giddy!

Too bad we didn't give him a better Nascar name.

Another Weezard

The other day we spotted another "weezard" on our deck. Carter and Davis were mesmerized and spent the next hour looking at or hunting for the weezard.

Not sure what Carter planned to do with that stick, but he looks like a future "Crocodile Hunter" (crikey!).

Trying to find the weezard again...

Evan still hadn't woken up from his nap yet. So he missed all of the excitement...that boy can sleep!

Welcome to the Home Depot

I bought the most awesome toy almost a year ago at the Austin Moms of Multiples sale (like a giant garage sale for children's items). It is for ages 3 and up, but the kids were getting bored with the cold weather we had this weekend. So, we went ahead and set it up, and it is a huge hit!

The safety goggles are the most coveted piece. Here is Carter moving in for the "want trade?"

Looks like the trade went through...

"Luke, I am your father."

Evan finally gets his turn with the goggles.

The power tools that came with this thing have lights and eerily realistic sounds!
Here is Evan working the the sander.

90 Degrees in February?`

We have been spoiled this year with a very mild winter. So, we saved our Valentine's Day Tigger pops from Mimi & Papa for a beautiful day outside. (I'm not stupid, people!)

Anyway, I was braced for a big sticky mess, but The Spanky's are leary of anything not resembling a chicken nugget these days. I think they think I am trying to pull a fast one on them. Like maybe I have stuffed Tigger with green beans.

Maisie has assumed the snack time position.

Carter cracks me up with his goofy faces and mannerisms :)
