90 Degrees in February?`

We have been spoiled this year with a very mild winter. So, we saved our Valentine's Day Tigger pops from Mimi & Papa for a beautiful day outside. (I'm not stupid, people!)

Anyway, I was braced for a big sticky mess, but The Spanky's are leary of anything not resembling a chicken nugget these days. I think they think I am trying to pull a fast one on them. Like maybe I have stuffed Tigger with green beans.

Maisie has assumed the snack time position.

Hung up on Hang nails

Davis is always telling me that he has a hangnail and needs some little scissors. One time I made the mistake and said "oh you don't need any scissors", and I just pulled it off.

So, now he is a chronic nail picker like I am. In the car I will look back and he is messing with his nails. I have picked at mine at least since Kindergarten (which is as far back as I can really remember).



I wonder if hang-nails are a genetic trait? That would mean that Davis isn't just emulating me but that he was cursed from birth like I was! Maybe I need to start a Hang Nail Society and see what kind of research funding we can get for this :)

Ick. don't you just hate those chalky hearts with goofy sayings on them. Why do they still make those??!

Anyway, this Valentine's Day I made my first ever attempt at cupcakes. I must say I was quite pleased with the way they turned out. ***I proved it by eating half a dozen of them myself***


I shared them with the kids anyway...


It is both a blessing and a curse that they won't touch anything without me cutting it first... "break it, break it, break it". That is what I hear all day.

Anyway, Carter and Evan chowed on theirs.


Davis, not so much. He looks like he wants to puke.


The next day I scraped off the icing of one and just gave him the cake. He was pleased.

Techno Babies

It took me a while to figure out what they were saying. I heard them say it a lot at the beginning of Baby Einstein videos. Then, I started hearing it again during random commercials but they weren't just repeating something.

Finally, I got it. dot com dot com dot com. They recognize the word ".com" on the television screen! They can read. Yay!!! But they may be computer nerds, boo!! I was hoping for the "dream team": doctor, lawyer and accountant...no pressure kids :)

Sometimes, I wish it were as simple as going to the cupboard and pulling out a new kid when the ones you have get spoiled or start to stink.

Guess we are going to have to put the cabinet locks back on this one!

The Sweetest Boy Ever!

So, I was getting the boys ready for school this morning and Davis touches my face and says, "Mommy, beautiful...I want a kiss".

It just melted my heart, he is such a precious boy. Every time there is a show or a book with a mommy in it, he comes over and gives me a hug!
