Trial Run

The boys haven't been to many exciting places thus far. Mostly because Kyle and I are sticklers for "the schedule" and the thought of them missing a nap is scarier than 3 meltdowns in a public place.

But, we are thinking about a trip to the San Antonio Zoo this summer (wow, we are getting adventurous now!). So, we decided to do a trial run and took them to Cabellas...hey the animals are real, they just happen to not be alive.

Well, the fish are alive and they had a great time feeding them and checking out the aquariums.

Of course, the highlight for Carter was the big pickup truck they had in there.

I can't believe it is only 13 1/2 more years before they start driving! Forget a college fund, I think I need to start an insurance fund.

A Toddler Mom's Dream Come True

I always make fun of Kyle for living by the tenet: If a little is good, then a lot must be better. This is especially true when it comes to glue and dinner portions ;)

Anyway, I noticed the day before that Target had their generic diapers on clearance for $9.50 a box. (Those little red stickers at Target make my heart beat fast!) The same size box of Pampers is ~$29!! So, I had him stop in while he was waiting on a prescription.

In all fairness, I did tell him to get ALL size 5 boxes he could find (thinking there would only be a few on the shelves). Little did I know he would ask the clerk if they had more in the back!

He said he got a lot of really weird looks while trying to manage 2 carts overloaded with diapers. Plus, he only had 1 kid with him at the time, who was arm deep in a box of Teddy Grahams.

I must admit, that it is really nice to not worry every week or so if we are running low on diapers!! Can you believe this will only last us six months though? Luckily, at least Evan will be in this size until he is in kindergarten (which is about when I will be ready to potty train them).

Now I just need a year's worth of bottled water/canned goods and our fallout shelter will be complete.

More Brotherly Love

The Spankys love to hug each other these days... at least I think that is what they are doing. They could be huddling up to plan how they are going to drive me more insane.

One Up-manship

Poor Carter fell off of our rock wall the other day and face planted on the rock bed below. Later when we went over to Gigi's house she said, "Oh no, Carter what happened??"

Carter said, "I fell off the rocks. Have to be real careful".

Davis promptly leaned over and said to Gigi, "I gotta hang nail."

He certainly wasn't going to let Carter get all of the attention!

Sorry Davis, I didn't get a picture of your "injury".

Easter Festivities

This is the first year we had The Spankys put carrots out for the Easter bunny. I am not sure they had ever seen one with the green on it before. I guess that shows you how often I cook fresh veggies :)

Of course Evan, the fruit monster, was more interested in eating his, than leaving it for the rabbit.

The next morning they tore into their basket of goodies...

and had some breakfast with their new bibs & sunglasses* ...

*For those of you keeping score, yes, I did give them those glasses last year for Easter, but then I was scared they would impale themselves. So, I stole them back and put them away for this year again!

Later Gigi, Papa, Uncle Jason and The Cousins were coming over for an egg hunt and brunch.

The kids love eating together at this little bitty picnic table!

The egg hunt was a hit as usual...

We tried to get a picture of them all together. This was the best we could do.

Then during our attempt at a family picture, Evan decided to lay down in front of us and have a tantrum. I was so irritated...I really wished at that moment that I hadn't forgotten the mimosas.

Finally, a Green Muffin

I swear Davis had been asking me everyday for a week to have a green muffin. I had no idea what he was talking about. (Although, his favorite/assigned color is green.) He just wouldn't let it go.

Anyway, the day Kyle's parents left we took the boys to our friend Hadley's 2nd birthday party. They had all sorts of fun stuff to do like an egg hunt...

and balloons...

plus breakfast tacos & donuts, so Kyle was in heaven!

Then the cupcakes came out. They were super cute little Easter baskets. Davis looked at me with the widest eyes and said "Look mommy, my green muffin!!"
Hmm, I am going to have to ask him who he thinks will win the NBA finals.

Here's a pic of the Birthday Girl getting after hers...no sense in dirtying up your hands :)

Thank you Mingo & Ocean

Okay, I am finally going to try and get caught up...so this will be rapid fire blogging.

Kyle and I had a great time on our vacation in Scottsdale thanks to the fact that Mimi & Papa watched the boys for 5 WHOLE DAYS! Of course we forgot the camera, so you will just have to trust me.

Apparently, Evan decided that their names weren't quite right, and he dubbed them Mingo (Mimi) and Ocean (Papa)...did I mention kids are weird? Anyway, Evan has not let it rest, but Carter and Davis aren't going for it.

Kyle's parents are basically saints for putting up not only with 3 two and half year olds, but also with my endless menu spreadsheets, schedules, training notes, etc. :)

The boys definitely miss you Mingo & Ocean and can't wait to see you in July!!
