Photo Ops

The Spankys LOVE having their picture taken as a group lately. It seems like every time they are sitting together they ask me to go get the camera :)

Here are some recent group photos.

After our "meet the teacher" day at school:

On our first day of school...okay it technically was the second day of school because I totally forgot on the first day. Then of course in this one I forgot to have them put on their back packs. Someday I will get it together!

Brain Washing Session

One of Kyle's birthday presents this year was a ticket/trip to the OU vs. BYU game at the new Cowboy's stadium.

This is what we were instructed to do in his absence...

The Spankys were devastated by the loss.

1st Zoo Trip

Last week while Kyle was on vacation we took the kids on their very first trip to the zoo. We figured with most schools already in session the zoo would be empty.

And we were right...there were maybe 10 cars in the parking lot when we arrived!

The boys enjoyed it, but it was difficult for them to see some of the smaller animals. And some of the big animals were not out it seemed like because of the heat. So, that was a little disappointing.

We took a snack break here.

About 2 seconds after I took this picture I turned to put the camera down and Davis starts screaming. I turned around and thought "oh no, he threw up all over himself!". Then I realized that a bird had taken an enormous dump on him! Poor guy. In my panic I didn't know if I should reach for the wipes or the camera.

Lucky for him, I chose the wipes. But it was all over the front of his shirt, his snack cup, his water cup, and the back of Carter's seat. Geez, did this bird just finish up a 7 course dinner?

Anyway, Davis recovered nicely. They all seemed to like the fish the best. So, we'll probably have to visit Sea World next year.

Petting and brushing the goats was also a big hit. Carter made it his mission to brush every goat in there.

After the zoo, we rode the cute little train around Brackenridge Park which shares a parking lot with the zoo.

Now doesn't this look like a refreshing spot for a picnic. Kyle said this is what a park in Baghdad would look like!

San Antonio is having a worse drought than we are (if that is even possible!). We are all in the "Exceptional" drought category. Please, please, let us get some rain!

Re-tooling

Here is what I've picked up in the last couple of weeks:

3 duvet covers
3 sheet sets
3 pillow shams
3 throw pillows
4 little potties
21 pairs of little undies

Do you see where this is going? I have all of the necessary tools. We are ready. Yep, any day now.

Okay, for some reason the saying "Big hat, no cattle" is coming to mind here.

Am I the only one that just has no desire to put their kids on the toilet and in big kid beds? I know they are about to be 3, but I really value my sanity...not to mention pee/poop free upholstery.

The Spankys certainly aren't in any hurry to do these things either. I literally think I spoon fed them for too long. They want me to do everything for them. Where most 3 year olds are constantly screaming "NO, I DO IT!!!", mine are saying "Mommy, do it" and giving me sad puppy dog eyes.

So picture this...

...we are driving along the highway with the kids quietly enjoying a Baby Einstein video. Here is our conversation:

Kyle: Uhh, that man looks miserable. He's all fat and sweaty and riding a bike in this heat with no shirt on.

Me: Gross...oh no, he has hair all over his back too!

Kyle: Aww yuck!

Davis: (nonchalantly) That man is like Daddy.

Me: (dying laughing)

Kyle: Great. I just got burned by a 2 year old. And, I'll have you know, Davis, I don't have hair on my back!

Family Movie Night

While Kyle was on vacation this week, we decided to do our first ever "Family Movie Night". We let the kids stay up late and eat as much popcorn as they wanted while we watched Open Season. It wasn't the greatest Disney movie ever, but it was cute.

I was surprised that the boys sat through almost all of it. Towards the end they decided to all snuggle on the couch with Mommy. I wish we could do this every night :)
