A Motley Crew

Happy Halloween! Okay, so this is officially my longest blog absence ever I will try to get caught up over the next few days so that I can share some more timely updates from Christmas.

So, I was lazy this year and did not try to think of anything too original for the boys' Halloween costume. We just went with the pirate costumes that they got from their Mimi & Papa for their birthday. They thought it was really cool to be a pirate though!

We finally got the hang of trick-or-treating after a few houses.

Evan and mommy:

Davis and Daddy:

Carter & Papa:

Once we got home, I let them each have a piece. Carter chose what appears to be a Christmas sucker...someone in our neighborhood is pretty cheap! He enjoyed it nonetheless.

Our neighbor was so nice to take a picture of our whole family that turned out pretty cute...oh, and she is not the one that gives old candy :)

Davis continues to ask me, "can we can go trick-or-treating tonight?". We haven't quite grasped the concept of annual events yet :)

The other day I asked them what they wanted to be for Halloween next year.

Davis said, "A buzzy bee!"
Evan then chimed in with, "a butterfly."
And then Carter rounded out the theme nicely with, "a LADY BUG!!!"

Do I dare be that cruel to them next year??!

Annual Visit from Drew & Jo-jo

Our good friends Drew & Johanna came and stayed with us this weekend along with their new addition to the family. OMG, Ansley is the sweetest and best baby I have ever been around!

Davis enjoyed doing tummy time with her. They would just stare at each other :)

Evan didn't care one way or the other. But Carter, well let's just say it's a good thing we don't plan on having any more babies!

Every time Kyle or I would pick Ansley up, Carter would come and ask "will you hold me?" or say "that baby wants to get down, can you hold me?" He got especially frustrated when I was feeding her a bottle. Wow.

Anyway, we had a great time hanging out with them :)

Please ignore the fact that Evan is picking his nose...it seems like they have all discovered this neat trick recently.

I am the only one without an OU shirt :(

After they left, I discovered this hilarious website call Awkward Family Photos...Evan came over as I was looking at this one and he said "Drew and Jojo!". So wrong, but so hilarious!

A Day Out With Thomas the Rain (err, Train)

Due to the current Thomas obsession in our house we decided to take the boys to ride Thomas when he came to town.

Once again, the rain decided to crash our party. I think the boys still enjoyed it though. Except Carter was mad that he was riding in a coach car and not the actual Thomas engine.

Here they are with Gigi and Papa traipsing through the mud pit/parking lot.

The little engineer hats from their Great Aunt Janice and Great Uncle Gordon looked so sweet!

After we finished the train ride, it started pouring so we all walked literally no more than 50 yards to get into this building. Somehow, Gigi got separated from the pack. We couldn't figure out how that could possibly have happened since we have 3 kids dressed identically with us! Good thing I brought these cookies from home.

Anyway she did eventually find us. Apparently she followed a guy that she thought was Kyle until if finally dawned on her that this guy was wearing a Longhorn hat...oh the shame. And once again, Kyle is mistaken for "generic white guy".

Junior Nascar

I thought these sleepers were funny when I saw them at Costco :)

3 Yr. Doctor Visit

We braved the pediatrician's office last week for the boys 3 year well check despite the rampant H1N1 stuff.

Evan really hates going to the doctor, but he did a little better this time. He actually stood on the scale and let them measure his height without too much of a fuss. Carter and Davis on the other hand are always thrilled to go and argue over who gets to go first with everything.

So, here are the stats:

Carter
Height: 37.5" (50%)
Weight: 31.6 lbs. (50%)

Davis
Height: 38.5" (75%)
Weight: 32.4 lbs. (50-75%)

Evan
Height: 38" (50-75%)
Weight: 28.0 lbs. (10-25%)

The doctor said maybe next year we can recheck Carter for the peanut allergy, but even that may be too soon for him to grow out of it. Until then, we just have to maintain a strict avoidance in hopes of not making the allergy any worse.

Evan is still doing speech therapy. We and the neurologist are hopeful that he will continue to improve and "outgrow" his delays as there doesn't seem to be any underlying cause for his issues (which I think is a good thing!). Anyway, it is really difficult for me not to worry, but I am trying to have faith.

Outside of that, everyone is happy and healthy which is all any parent can really ask for!

The doctor also said we should probably consider getting them into big boy beds now even though they aren't climbing out of their cribs. He said they see LOTS of head injuries from kids that "never climb out". So, I guess we have to pull the trigger on this one.

Carter constantly wakes up and says "my feets aren't covered" because the baby blankets are too small. Maybe in the twin beds I can just tuck the sheets around them so tight that they can't get out :)

It's Hard To Be Little

Carter woke up from his nap a couple of weeks ago in an especially grumpy mood. He was being super clingy when Gigi came in. Here is the exchange:

Gigi: Hello Carter

Carter: (silence)

Me: Carter, aren't you going to say hi to your Gigi?

Carter: No, I don't want to.

Gigi: You aren't going to say "hi" today?

Carter: No Gigi, I had a hard day!

Wow. I didn't realize being a toddler was so taxing. But I guess the daily grind can really stress a little guy out.

We Have 3 3-Year-Olds!

Time to get caught up on the bloggin'!

We celebrated The Spankys' 3rd birthday last month with a pirate themed party. Arrr.

Remember when I was pleading for rain awhile back? Well, it finally began to pour the week of their birthday and continued all the way through the party. So, I ended up with this in my dining room:

Luckily, it was going to be a small party...just my brother's kids, all of the grandparents and 2 other families!

Despite the rain and close quarters, we had a great time. Although, the buried treasure had to stay on the front porch.

Can you believe I made those little signs :) I'm turning into a regular Martha Stewart! Well, on second thought, I made the cupcakes myself too, and Martha would never approve of the messy job I did with canned icing. *gasp*

Okay I'm guessing you would prefer to see pictures of the kids. So, here they come...

What a sweet little pirate...

Carter somehow managed to get all of the girls in the boat :)

Evan is about to perform the amazing "Disappearing Fruit Kabob" act with his lovely assistant.

Singing to the Birthday Boys...

Guess what Carter's favorite present was??

A few cupcake faces...Happy Birthday sweet boys!
