Spankys' Night Out

A few weeks ago my mom and I took the boys on their first trip to McDonald's (or any other restaurant for that matter). It went much better than anticipated and they really seemed to enjoy it.

They explored the playground for awhile but were really more interested in meeting the people eating their dinner out there. After way too long of a wait for our food, we moved inside so we could pull up 3 booster chairs.

They dug into the McNuggets and fries...

And yes, they are eating off of the table, which is really gross to me, but I did wipe it down with the my Clorox wipes before we started. I have since bought these disposable place mats that stick down to the table.

Notice the man enjoying his newspaper behind Evan...poor guy doesn't know what he is in for.

Davis scarfed it down despite never wanting to touch chicken at home.

He and Carter enjoyed their green goblin toys, which are now in the garbage...who makes a toy for kids that has a laser pointer on it???!!!

Well, bye-bye newspaper guy. He lasted longer than I thought he would (but only about 10 minutes).

Brotherly Love

The kids have the upstairs playroom and TV room to romp around. However, they often choose to be right up in each other's business.

Here is Carter riding "shotgun" on the Alphabet Train with Davis. Davis was not pleased, but refused to get off.

Evan is wondering how he can get in on the action. Oh, and that white blob in the bottom left hand corner is Maisie...she is of course in the mix.

Extreme Makeover: Baby Edition

Kyle and I loaded up the kids this weekend to go to Home Depot and get the car washed. As we were waiting with the other customers outside of the car wash, we drew lots of attention. This normally happens with the triplet stroller, and when the kids are ALL dressed the same. However, after the 3rd person said "what is it, 2 girls and a boy?", we had had it.

We had to accept responsibility for the fact that little Evan looked like a girl...the long hair and a pink & purple sippy cup were not helping his masculinity. But who the heck did they think was the other girl? We just assumed it was Carter because he was stuck in the back of the stroller and you couldn't really see him.

So, we decided to make a major change. I took Evan to get a haircut and threw away the pink sippy cup. They only come in 3 colors...blue, green, and pink. So, keeping track of 2 blue ones now is going to be difficult, but I think worth the extra effort.

Here's a couple of before pictures. He looks pretty girly right here:

Evan has been cursed with coarse hair like his mom and dad. Kyle purposely stood his hair up for this one (notice the sippy cup):

And now for the new and improved Evan with blue/red sippy :

Now he looks just like Daddy :)

Food for Thought

Should kids that have 12-14 teeth each still be eating baby food? We have quite a dilemma on our hands with the Spanky's diet. Most kids supposedly grow out of being fed and the taste of baby food after they try "the real thing". Ours, on the other hand, at 17 months are still going strong with the baby food with only a few exceptions: Goldfish, Honeymaid Bees, canned pears, Cheerios, and waffles. So, we know they can feed themselves and can chew. Any other items are immediately chucked over the edge of their tray.

But we keep trying. This particular night we decided to sit with them at the table and eat as we gave them our dinner of roast, potatoes, and corn. Please disregard the messy counter tops in the background...I am more concerned with the mess that is about to end up on the floor and in their hair!

It was fairly successful, but we have not been so lucky with additional attempts. The next night we tried to give them leftovers, and they were less than thrilled.

All Aboard the Diaper Train

The kids love Diaper Delivery Day. They look forward to it each month with gleeful anticipation. We get a good solid hour of enjoyment from the boxes. You can sit on them, bang on them, slip around on them when they are flattened...really the possibilities are endless.

Evan is just paralyzed with excitement.

Carter drives the train.

Carter has to get out and inspect the caboose.

This is part of our monthly supply of diapers. We buy a huge box of bigger sized/cheaper ones for the night too. They are thick and super absorbent, but not very flattering to the booty.

Later, they all got in the big box that the diapers were delivered in. This fun was short-lived due to the fact that there was ONLY 1 box. We are still working on sharing (as we will be for the next 20 years)

As you can see, Davis got a haircut. The other two decided to leave their's more "party" than "business".

Although lately people have asked me if they are "all boys". Yikes!

3 Cheers for 3 Walkers!

Evan and Davis are running all over the place now, and Carter is becoming more and more confident in taking steps on his own. He still crawls most of the time, but you can just see how proud he gets when he walks on his own around the room.

Do you think they need another haircut??!! Evan's looks like a rat's nest and poor Davis has an inch of bangs hanging in his eyes.

Carter can sometimes be a real bruiser with a short fuse! When he gets mad he clinches his fists turns bright red and just screeches. Sounds like his middle name (Duke) is pretty fitting!

Sometimes I think they understand more than we give them credit. Maisie, got this penguin for Christmas, and Davis has seen her play with it maybe 1-2 times. He came out of the playroom with it, put it right in Maisie's mouth and just laughed and laughed. He seems to like to play with her more than the other boys do.

Attack of the Clones

This is basically Kyle's uniform during football season. It is scary to think there are three just like him!! I like that Evan is holding a bat to keep Daddy in line.
