Lots & Lots of Easter

The Easter festivities began on Saturday this year with the annual neighborhood egg hunt. It was packed with families. I wish I had a picture to capture the chaos.

I prepped the kids all week by putting candy in plastic eggs and having them open them, but I neglected to teach them how to put them in a bag.

Carter was wondering what kind of cruel bunny would leave only half of an egg.

Davis went straight for the candy inside.

Evan didn't want to put down his milk long enough to concentrate on egg hunting.

We woke up Sunday morning and found what the Easter Bunny left us.

Then later, we had brunch at our house with Gigi & Papa, and my brother, sister-in-law and "the cousins". They really enjoyed playing with them on our back deck.

Everyone knows, before you can have a successful Easter Egg Hunt, you have to first hunt for dog poop!

We tried to get a "grandkids" picture, but of course the Spanky's would have none of it.

After our nap we were able to check out the Easter buckets from Gigi & Papa.

We had Peeps for dessert...the boy's weren't nearly as excited about that as I was!

Extreme Makeover: Baby Edition Episode 2

Carter got a much needed haircut a few weeks ago. It looked like a bad combination of a mullet and a comb-over. His hair is so wispy in comparison to the others. But I think he looks like cute little boy with his new do. He was such a good boy through the entire haircut :)

Here is a close-up "before" shot:

And now for the after...camo will really make anyone look older :

Visit from Papa Steve

Papa Steve came to visit us a couple of weeks ago. We wore our shirts that Aunt Kelly gave us for Christmas. We looked like a whole rugby team!

We all loaded up and went to buy our first pair of shoes. I know, I know...they are 18 months old and NEVER worn shoes!! Let me just tell you that all of the "experts" say that bare foot is always best unless they are walking on a bed of broken glass. Well, those "experts" neglected to say that if you never put shoes on your kids, they will scream bloody murder when you finally do.

I tried to put some shoes we already had on them a few months ago, and they just laid down bawled. I have video of it, but it is frankly too sad to watch.

Anyway, we got them some simple velcro sandals, so they can still see their toes. After a little distraction, they decided shoes weren't so bad, and we went to the park to try them out. Now they actually like the shoes, because it means they get to go somewhere. Maybe soon we can move on to tennis shoes.

Later we ate some Taco Cabana for lunch. Apparently Carter didn't like the way it smelled...

Ahh, the perfect blackmail photo!

Spankys' Night Out

A few weeks ago my mom and I took the boys on their first trip to McDonald's (or any other restaurant for that matter). It went much better than anticipated and they really seemed to enjoy it.

They explored the playground for awhile but were really more interested in meeting the people eating their dinner out there. After way too long of a wait for our food, we moved inside so we could pull up 3 booster chairs.

They dug into the McNuggets and fries...

And yes, they are eating off of the table, which is really gross to me, but I did wipe it down with the my Clorox wipes before we started. I have since bought these disposable place mats that stick down to the table.

Notice the man enjoying his newspaper behind Evan...poor guy doesn't know what he is in for.

Davis scarfed it down despite never wanting to touch chicken at home.

He and Carter enjoyed their green goblin toys, which are now in the garbage...who makes a toy for kids that has a laser pointer on it???!!!

Well, bye-bye newspaper guy. He lasted longer than I thought he would (but only about 10 minutes).

Brotherly Love

The kids have the upstairs playroom and TV room to romp around. However, they often choose to be right up in each other's business.

Here is Carter riding "shotgun" on the Alphabet Train with Davis. Davis was not pleased, but refused to get off.

Evan is wondering how he can get in on the action. Oh, and that white blob in the bottom left hand corner is Maisie...she is of course in the mix.

Extreme Makeover: Baby Edition

Kyle and I loaded up the kids this weekend to go to Home Depot and get the car washed. As we were waiting with the other customers outside of the car wash, we drew lots of attention. This normally happens with the triplet stroller, and when the kids are ALL dressed the same. However, after the 3rd person said "what is it, 2 girls and a boy?", we had had it.

We had to accept responsibility for the fact that little Evan looked like a girl...the long hair and a pink & purple sippy cup were not helping his masculinity. But who the heck did they think was the other girl? We just assumed it was Carter because he was stuck in the back of the stroller and you couldn't really see him.

So, we decided to make a major change. I took Evan to get a haircut and threw away the pink sippy cup. They only come in 3 colors...blue, green, and pink. So, keeping track of 2 blue ones now is going to be difficult, but I think worth the extra effort.

Here's a couple of before pictures. He looks pretty girly right here:

Evan has been cursed with coarse hair like his mom and dad. Kyle purposely stood his hair up for this one (notice the sippy cup):

And now for the new and improved Evan with blue/red sippy :

Now he looks just like Daddy :)

Food for Thought

Should kids that have 12-14 teeth each still be eating baby food? We have quite a dilemma on our hands with the Spanky's diet. Most kids supposedly grow out of being fed and the taste of baby food after they try "the real thing". Ours, on the other hand, at 17 months are still going strong with the baby food with only a few exceptions: Goldfish, Honeymaid Bees, canned pears, Cheerios, and waffles. So, we know they can feed themselves and can chew. Any other items are immediately chucked over the edge of their tray.

But we keep trying. This particular night we decided to sit with them at the table and eat as we gave them our dinner of roast, potatoes, and corn. Please disregard the messy counter tops in the background...I am more concerned with the mess that is about to end up on the floor and in their hair!

It was fairly successful, but we have not been so lucky with additional attempts. The next night we tried to give them leftovers, and they were less than thrilled.
