A Boy and His Dog

Davis woke up early from his nap yesterday and came to hang out with me in the office while I was blogging. The camera was sitting out, and he asked me to take a picture. After I showed it to him he decided he wanted me to take his picture with Maisie.

He just loves her, and I think the feeling is mutual. Most mornings, the first thing he does is find Maisie to say, "Hi, sweetie girl!"

Shadow Play

The boys are finally becoming trust worthy enough to allow out on the front porch. They absolutely love walking people out or using the sidewalk chalk!

The other day I took them out there to wait for Daddy who was on his way home from work.

They had a great time playing with their shadows :)

We got some good "action shadow" going too.

Evan's reminded me of that Oogachuka baby from Ally McBeal...remember that?

I asked Carter where his shadow went. He said, "behind the wall" with a real "that's so obvious" kind of tone!

Fun for the Whole Family

Kyle took a vacation day a couple weeks ago, and while Evan was at camp we decided to set up the awesome GeoTrax train that their cousin Austin graciously let them have.

I didn't have high expectations for a kids train, but once Kyle and I set it up we couldn't stop playing with it. We were completely mesmerized.

Every now and then we would let Carter and Davis have a turn with the remote controllers too :) We were surprised how quickly they got the hang of it. But then again, we constantly underestimate them.

Kyle, put the laptop down...it's called vacation!

Derailments and broken tracks are killing me though. They start yelling/crying every time they can't get the train going right.

Since the set only came with 2 trains/controllers we knew there was going to be trouble. So, the four of us loaded up and went to pick out a train for Evan too. The boys were so sweet about selecting something for him and then not fighting over it.

Once Evan got into the play room he went nuts over the whole set up. He has been loving it ever since. And I could stare at those trains going around for hours.

Thank you so much Austin!!!

Independence Day

Mimi and Papa came to visit for the long weekend. And this time Kyle and I did not skip town. Of course, Evan still refers to them as Mingo & Ocean!

It was great to hang out with them and do some fun things with the kids.

We tried out one of our neighborhood pools for the first time this summer. It is just perfect for the Spankys. It is just 18 inches deep yet, fairly large. It also has a big sunshade over it which is nice for all of us considering the ridiculously hot summer we are having.

The boys loved it and the random things they found around the pool like this cup & bucket...

and this American flag...

and this cool pirate patch (arr!)...

Of course, on the 4th we did the annual neighborhood parade. Don't they look so cute in their floppy hats!

Mimi & Papa also resupplied us with OU paraphernalia...

Maybe I will let Evan wear his shirt on his LAST day of camp. I wouldn't want him to be ostracized :)

The boys also played in the backyard pool. Check out this cute picture that Papa got of Carter & Davis. I rarely capture this smile on Carter's face in a picture!

But the sweetest thing all weekend was when the boys spontaneously broke into "Ring Around the Rosey" :)

Later that night we let the boys stay up way past their bedtime to watch fireworks on TV (I know, we are getting brave!). Here's the family hanging out right before they started. Nothing like some Neil Diamond and wine to get in the American spirit. The Spankys have that sleepy/crazed look in their eye though!

Thank you so much for the great weekend!

Twins Would Be So Easy!

Evan has been attending a month long summer day camp. So, I have been getting a good taste of what it would be like with just twins. Let me tell you, 1 less makes a huge difference! So, I don't even know what you people with just 1 baby do with your time (hehehe).

They've done some finger painting at home:

Gigi and I took them to their first movie at the theater...they only lasted 45 mins in there but they are still talking about it. After the movie we let them play on the arcade games. I think they could have done that for hours.

We took them to the mall and let them *gasp* WALK! It was their first experience ever on an escalator!

Today we met some friends of theirs at a jumpy place. Hopefully in the next few days we can get some good trike time in and practice pedaling.

Also, It is amazing to me that you can actually run errands with just 2 kids...there are no 3 seater carts for Target and the grocery store. They have been such good sports about running all over town.

The best thing though is that they are all so excited to see each other when we go to pick up Evan! They sometimes all hold hands in their car seats.

The Best Daddy

Okay so once, again I am playing catch-up on the blog...

Kyle's birthday unfortunately falls right near Fathers Day. So, he gets the "combo celebration". This year they made their own cards for him. They insisted that they wear party hats while doing it.

I wish I could say that he got to go out and do something fun for himself on his birthday, but for one reason or another that just didn't happen. Another thing that didn't happen was getting a picture of him with all 3 of the boys :(

Here's one of him and Evan after his birthday dinner over at Gigi & Papa's house.

They are very lucky to have such a fun and involved daddy!

Toddler Torture Tactics

Have I mentioned my kids don't eat ANYTHING? I think they have a secret stash of Cheerios somewhere...or maybe they've hooked up with a Goldfish dealer at preschool. (I hear the street name for them is "Nemos"). The Spankys don't look malnourished, but I don't ever see them eat anything. I'm just saying, it's odd.

Lately, we have been doing the whole "if you eat 1 bite of _____, you can have a Special Treat".

Anyway, as of late Carter is the only one brave enough take us up on the offer. It usually goes like this:

1) He quickly pops the dreaded substance into in his mouth (e.g. chunk of apple, half of a noodle - you know, really torturous stuff)

2) He immediately throws his hands up in the air like he is some Fear Factor food challenge champion

3) He proceeds to gag as we come running with a towel

4) He chokes it down

5) He screams "Special Treat!"

Here he is with a highly disturbing and darn near perfect 'stache/beard combo after the much loved chocolate ice cream cone reward. Kyle and I were dying laughing, but he just looked at us like we were crazy.
